Does a Certified Used Hyundai Keep the 10-Year Warranty? (Louisville Buyer’s Guide)
A Hyundai Certified Used Vehicle is a Hyundai 6 model years old or newer with 80,000 miles or less that passed a 173-point inspection. The big benefit: Hyundai's 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty is reinstated from the original in-service date, plus 10-year/unlimited-mile roadside assistance, rental-car coverage and a free CARFAX report. Hyundai Certified Used Vehicles: what’s included
Official program: Hyundai Certified Used Vehicles (HCUV) — plus Hyundai Select Used for older vehicles. Certification is set by the manufacturer, not the dealer — each vehicle must meet the factory’s age, mileage, history and inspection rules before it can be sold as certified.
| Tier | Eligibility | Warranty coverage | Inspection | Extras |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hyundai Certified Used | 6 model years old or newer, 80,000 miles or less | Remainder of 5-year/60,000-mile comprehensive coverage + 10-year/100,000-mile Powertrain Limited Warranty from original in-service date ($50 deductible) | 173-point | 10-year/unlimited-mile roadside; rental car $35/day up to 10 days; trip interruption |
| Hyundai Select Used | Older or higher-mileage Hyundais outside Certified limits | 90-day/5,000-mile Powertrain coverage | 117-point | 90-day roadside |
Every certified Hyundai also includes
- Free CARFAX report and clean, non-branded title
- 10-year/100,000-mile HEV/PHEV/EV battery coverage
- 3-month SiriusXM Platinum trial; 1 year of Bluelink+ (Remote & Guidance)
- Powertrain coverage transferable to a private buyer (vehicles retailed on/after Oct 1, 2025)
Certified vs. regular used: is it worth it?
Choose certified if…
You want a factory inspection, a vehicle history report and manufacturer-backed warranty coverage beyond what’s left of the original factory warranty — and you plan to keep the vehicle a while.
Choose regular used if…
Lowest price matters most, or you want an older or higher-mileage vehicle outside certification limits. Ask for the vehicle history report on any used vehicle before you buy.

Certified Hyundai FAQs
Does a certified used Hyundai keep the 10-year/100,000-mile warranty?
Yes. On Hyundai Certified Used Vehicles, the 10-year/100,000-mile Powertrain Limited Warranty covers the vehicle from its original in-service date and zero miles, with a $50 deductible per repair visit. A non-certified used Hyundai bought by a second owner typically has 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain coverage instead.
What qualifies a Hyundai for Certified Used?
The vehicle must be 6 model years old or newer with 80,000 miles or less, have a clean CARFAX title and pass Hyundai's 173-point mechanical, safety and appearance inspection. EVs, hybrids and plug-in hybrids may use a different inspection point count.
What is Hyundai Select Used?
Hyundai Select Used is a separate program for older or higher-mileage Hyundais. It uses a 117-point inspection and shorter coverage than Hyundai Certified Used.
Where can I buy a certified used Hyundai in Louisville?
Oxmoor Hyundai at 2125 Blankenbaker Pkwy, Louisville, KY 40299 sells Hyundai Certified Used Vehicles. You can also browse certified Hyundais across Oxmoor Auto Group online.
Is the Hyundai Certified warranty transferable?
Hyundai's warranty provisions state that, for vehicles retailed on or after October 1, 2025, the remaining coverage can transfer to a private-party buyer. It does not transfer if the vehicle is sold to a dealer or business.
